12 week old springer spaniel puppy pees every 2 minutes?

Question:hi i have a 12 week old male springer puppy, he is peeing all the time, it seems to me that he doesnt even realize that he is peeing, like when he is playing. When i watch him outside it also seems that he does not releave completly. He had even peed today where his food bowl is, i am aware that he is not housebroken completly but tonight he even peed in our bed. He usually wakes me up. He pees wherever he is. I put him today in his crate when i went somewhere, i came back after 2 hours, lifted him up and he was fighting to go down, i put him down and he peed right on the concrete, where i let him down. When he pees in the house i grab him and put him outside and he pees there again, sometimes he pees every 2 minutes. he does not drink too much. I went to the vet a week ago for his second shots and i told him than that gizmo pees alot, he stated it could be a behaviour problem. Since than it worsens and he does poopoo outside without a problem. Does anyone please know what to do?

I agree with Dog Lover...it's a great possibility it's a UTI. I would bring a urine sample in to your vet and have them check it out. A dog...even a puppy, shouldn't be peeing that much. Another thing I was thinking about is submissive urination...does your dog pee when he feels scared, excited or intimidated? if so, this behavior can correct after the dog develops self esteem. You can help by ignoring the submissive peeing and not making a big deal about it. When taking notice of his peeing, it makes him feel like he's done something wrong. If ignored, he won't sense he's done anything wrong and will out grow this.

It could be a urinary tract infection, which is common and treatable with a simple antibiotic. It could also be something worse like diabetes, but in such a young dog, I would bet it's an infection.
Have the vet check for infection in the urine.
You should catch a urine sample in a clean container and bring it to your vet to make sure it's not a urinary tract infection. Frequent urination is a symptom of UTIs.

If the urinalysis comes back normal, then it probably is behavioral. Some dogs pee from excitement or anxiety. It usually improves as they get older, but you can consult with a professional dog trainer to get ideas on how to curb the behavior.
HI, This is the number one question Dog Owners always ask me. How to Housebreak their dogs.

You have to understand the basics. What goes in must come out and you have to know when that is. You have to put your pet on a schedule.

Sit down and make a list of times your going to feed and water them. Make sure you give enough time for them to consumpe both.

An example would be when you get up in the morning take them out then bring them in and feed, water. leave it down for about 30 minutes. Then take them out agian. If their puppies your going to have to do this several times aday. But do this atleast 3 times aday and give a little water in between the feeding. That's right, you have to pick the water up too.

You don't have to leave water down all the time if their in a controlled eviroment like a house. Outside is different. But once the food and wtaer is down for 30 miutes, pick both up.

Write down the times your going to do this, plus the times you take them out. Stick with it. If they have anaccident in the house. DON"T yell at them, just writhe down the time and see if there's a trend of going that time of a several day period. If there is, adjust the schedule to make sure they go out at that time.

Some Dogs are very hard to housebreak, but with a schedule, atleast they will know when their going to be feed and taken out.

If your going out, crate them and then when you return just continue on with the schedule. If you have any other questions. Feel free to email me.

Best wishes
