Golden retriever attack its 60 yr old owner, n his owner put it 2 slp. can any1 save the dog ?

Question:in local news, there is 60 year old lady arm was severly bitten by Golden retriever ,which is 11 years. The dog attacked her because she was slapping the other companion dog . Personally ,this dog had champion blood and imported from australia , it used to with his 1st trainer who passed away due to old age , and change to at least 2 owners Currently this is the third owner. The old lady was severly injured , and The family decided to sent the dog away and put it to sleep . I felt that this is issue of owners and the mentality of the pet owners. They didnt train the dog properly and stand in the view of the dog. A dog having change so many owner had a sense of insecurity , this Golden retriever is put 2 sleep. Some of them keep thier dog in cage . SPEAK up for the PETS This is very depressing .

Answers:
If the owner had dominance over the dogs, it never would have happened. Bottom line is that the dog bit a person. It needs to be put to sleep. Period.

oh no! Can't anyone take the dog? Where do u live? States?
This is a very sad story. Its really sad when people can't be bothered to be responsible for the pets they give a home, and being responsible includes good obedience training at the least and making sure to be that dog's pack leader.
Part of me is sad also because I know that if this dog was a pit bull or a rottie or some 'bad breed' of dog they'd simply be saying "good riddance."

Proof that irresponsible dog owners own ALL breeds of dog.
I am very sorry for the woman. Now saying that I would not allow this Golden into my home. I love Golden's to the max but this one is beyond anyone's help. For it to attack is just not a good sign no matter what the circumstances are or were. This Golden no matter if it did come from very good lines has been abused and may have a genetic
pre- disposition to be aggressive. With out my going into the whole story or seeing the dog for myself or to have a qualified behaviorist person by my side to evaluate this Golden than I can't say it should not be put down.
Personally I would have it put down. There was something very wrong with this Golden right from the start or else to me it would not have been shuffled around to so many owners.
I know this answer may upset some people but even a Golden's can have terrible problems with behavior and temperament and aggressiveness too.

This is very sad and I hope the woman will recover soon.
