Question:I have a new puppy, almost 1 months old, problem is unlike her brother she cannot walk except moving her legs aimlessly and I noticed every time she's trying to stand her back feet would go stiff like cramped and also her front legs would become stiff too. She cannot even sit..
What should I do?
Answers:
She probably just isn't maturing as fast as her brother. Time does wonders for dogs. If she does have a muscular defect, you might be able to splint her legs and give them time to gain muscle. If she has a defect of the boney structure of the hips and legs, then you will have to make a decision on the quality of her life being viable or not.
But, most puppies outgrow any muscular problems as they age. It just takes time. You vet will be able to tell more after she is 6-8 weeks old. I personally wouldn't do anything until she has more time to grow. Why put her through a bunch of poking, prodding and x-rays now before she is even old enough to treat?
It would be common sense to take it to the vet. =\
Where did you get this pup? Did you just get her? Did she injure herself at all that you could see?
You definitely should take her to the vet!
Call the vet and have her checked out.If she can't move...THAT WOULD BE A PROBLEM!!
Take her to the vet asap. I had a pup who could barely walk. We had to splint his legs for about 2-3 months and give calcium supplements. He grew into a strong healthy dog.
Don't write your pup off yet. It may be something that is easily fixed.
get her to the vet right away something is terribly wrong.
ALMOST 1 month old? Or you have had her almost a month??
Does she get plenty of water to drink? What do you feed them?
You should get her to the vet and get her checked out..
Edit : Just a thought, does this puppy have a flat chest? She might be a Swimmer puppy.. Is this your litter or did you get the 2 somewhere??
vet !
bring her to a vet. they may be able to fix whatever the problem is. or at least figure out what the problem is. if u know where she came from, call, and ask them about when she was a pup. other then that, definatly bring her to a vet.
yes i would agree- take her to the vet. it could be neurological. it doesnt sound like a physical birth defect since it is all four. it could be poisoning even. so take her to the vet.
are u sure the puppy cant see yet cuz i know for a fact puppies cant see when they are still young so if the problem isnt with the eye sight you should definatly ask the veternarian for any physical. Besides your puppy still is leaning to move if your puppy is that young cuz i had i had a pupppy once and around that age cocoa, my dead dog, used to crash into walls but stopped doing that after awhile
If you don't have the litter, that means your puppy is without it's mother. In some states it is against the law to sell a puppy before eight weeks. It needs to be with its siblings to learn how to behave. The puppies in the litter and the Mother dog teaches it the rules of life. It is risky to take a puppy away from its family too soon.
Take your pup to the vet.
This is likely- failure to thrive- see that she's getting enough nursing time and give her a while- often these pups catch right up to their siblings after a short time
