The Puppies Kicked (CONTIUED)?

Question:My dog is a 70lb golden retriver.
She is pregnat with AKC goldies and she wont let me taker temperture, I just tried and she was crying adn welping and she tried to bite me.
This is her fist life adn I would have to say this about my 18 question, because I want to make sure I am doing everything correctly, it doesnt matter how many books I have read about whepling (about 30). It still doesnt provide me with all the answers.
She was tied on memorial day and my goldie couple was found tied 3 days in a row after that, So I dont know If I should worry but the puppies are kicking in her stomach, she is going off by herself alot more she used to be my shadow dog but shes not even near me right now!
So when do you think I should start expexting puppies!

Answers:
Taren R I answered your first question.
But to answer again I would say anytime! Just be prepared for them... don't panic. Your goldie will feed off of you and you def. want to keep her calm. She's under enough stress already.
I love GoldenGal and DP's answers. I am a cert. vet tech and dog breeder myself. (So let me just say that not all Vet Tech are dumb or inexperienced.) But I'm with you guys... not all dogs are gonna spit them out every 15 mins... if they did that WOULD be great! I've had dogs that were at perfect intervals, one puppy, right on cue never missed it by a mintue... Then other who are 30mins... 10 mins. 3 mins... then 90 mins! It just depends on the female. With my dogs average is 45 mins. to an hour!
I document all my litters and i'm acutally sittin here calculating and average these numbers. The longest i've had between pups in 115 mins. The shortest was 2 mins. (my fiance and I had been watchin my female all morning timin her (average was about 30 mins.) and I had to go feed horses... so right after she had one.. i ran out to feed and left my fiance there.. Came back and she had one right after i left! I was mad! haha) But they are so unpredictable.

Taren R. be prepared for them anytime. As Goldengal said its been 63 days... It's time! If she won't let you take her temp. don't force her, you don't want to upset her! Stay calm and watch her. Insticts will most likely take over and she'll know what to do! Be sure to keep an eye on her because (i don't remeber you stateing this was her first litter--- if it is) she might not know how to completely take care of them. Make sure you are available to assit if needed!
Good Luck!

Like I said before: When she starts panting and becoming more restless, then you still have about 6-24 hours before you could see any pups. If she's not even panting, whining, digging around in a spot that she's prepared to have the pups in, then you've still got at least another day or maybe two.
You have to start taking the temp and keeping her confined. You have a box ready for her? Keep her confined in the room with the box.

Muzzle her if you must for taking the temp. You need to take it for 10 days after the pups are born too. If it hits 103 then go to the vet immediately for anitbiotics.
Gee I though we went over this this afternoon. Today is day 63 that means she can have the pups any day now. If she is not eating and looking for a special place to be than you should be watching her. I know your excited but you have to relax. The fact that the pups are active is a great thing but doesn't mean labor will start soon.
Perhaps if you relax than she will too. You just need to keep an eye on her for the next few days.

NOTE: I just love some of these Vet Techs! I have never had a Golden birth pups at regular intervals. There has been as much as an hour or sometimes 2 between pups. Sometimes there may be 2 or 3 pups that come very quickly but then the mom takes a break. I have bred Golden's for over 20 years and have never seen a text book delivery.
The sudden bad mood would indicate to me that she is whelping, so don't take her temp she may bite, leave her alone but check on her every 10-15 mins. I would say whelping could occur within the next 24 hours if not sooner.
Once she has started to push allow 30mins between first push and first pups birth (if it goes longer get her to a vet ASAP) and then allow 15 mins between the birth of each subsequent pup. If it goes longer get her to a vet for oxytocin (helps bring the contractions along) if this doesn't work then need casearian.
Once she has finished having the pups its best to get her checked by a vet to ensure they are all out (unless you have had a xray or ultrasound and are 100% sure you know how many pups there was) as they can become tired and settle to feed and still have one or more pups left inside.
I have to agree with GoldenGal.. You should relax.. If you get all upset and worked up, you can very well cause more problems than good.. She'll pick up on this and well hey, she isn't going to want to bring babies into a world where there is anxiety and confusion.. In her mind it isn't safe. You need a quiet whelping area.. Box or corner or something where she is out of the way and out of traffic area.. Go there with her, and lay down.. She'll likely lay down with you.. Tell her she is a good girl, pet her gently talk to her sweetly and make her feel very comfortable.. Allow her to think that this is her safe and special spot. She and you are the two that are in this spot, she is safe and it's fine..
If she doesn't feel comfortable, she could be holding back and when they do things like that.. well there can be huge problems..
Let her see you calm and relaxed so she can feel calm and relaxed.

Edit : Vet tech person.. Allow 15 minutes between puppies? Have you ever whelped a litter or just read books?? 15 minutes.. I don't think so.. Might be a puppy, then one in an hour.. might be 1 1/2 hours
might be 1/2 hour.. They aren't going to be shooting out every 15 minutes.. OMG that would be wonderful.. Then you aren't having to wait and worry and sitting there for hours and hours. I'll tell my b itch next time she whelps... that you said she is supposed to be having them every 15 minutes.. HAHAHAHA .. She'll laugh at that one too !
She could have them anyday now. She's roaming and wanting to by by herself b/c she's probably looking for a place to give birth. Thats why she is acting so weird. Keep an eye on her b/c she could have the litter any day.
Should be soon! Did it happen?!? I''m writing in the morning and I would like to know if it went right.
