Question:I have a 2 1/2 yo dachshund that i am wanting to start breeding, but I only have the puppy papers on him. I never did send off for his papers and I was wanting to know if I could still do that? Thanks
Answers:
Yes, you can do it online. They'll ask you for the pin on your puppy paper application. Its most likely going to cost you more than a regular dog registration b/c they have time limits to register by. It probably won't be that much more though. Just go to www.akc.org and click on dog registration and then you can do it right online.
yes, or do it on line:

You can get his papers anytime.
Yes he can still be registered. Usually waiting longer just means it will cost more to do it. Have you had any genetic testing on your dog to make sure he is okay to breed? Does he meet breed standard?
Sorry, can't be done.
Get him fixed.
You can, but there is an extra fee.
You might even be able to do it online?
I would check with the dachsie club to see what kind of hereditary diseases to be aware of.
You'll probably want to show him and get his championship, I mean if he's poor quality, with disqualifications. there's no point in reproducing that.
Oh, lookie here, they have a whole slew of dachsie diseases to learn about: http://www.dachshund-dca.org/health.html...
IVDD
Allergies,
Thyroidism
Bloat
diabetes
progressive retinal atrophy
epilepsy
Heck, if he can clear all the health clearances and get his championship he'd be a heck of an addition to the gene pool.
And probably a popular fella!
Oh, and just for fun, you'll want to check out Earth Dog events... more fun than a dachsie should be allowed to have!

If you are going to breed your dog, please be responsible and get all possible genetic problems tested for on BOTH parents. You must go into this endeavor for the love of the breed, because you aren't going to make any money if your dog hasn't won any shows. Do a lot of research first, it is a lot more work then you think.
If you change your mind, GET HIM FIXED ASAP
Before you breed him, you need to question WHY. Is he going to help better the breed? Does he meet standard, have you shown him to proove this? Is he free of genetic disease? The vet cannot tell you that for sure, he needs to be OFA and CERF tested.
Look at www.petfinder.com there are lots of homeless dachshunds, many of them will be euthanized because of lack of homes.
Please reconsider breeding your dog.
Too late. Get him neutered.
yes,,,at an additional charge go to their website and do it
