Question:I'm not exactly sure if it's possible, but I think my dog's having a problem with asthma. It's not just wheezing though. She came in this morning and she would start snorting out her nose. Then, she started breathing in with very stiffled breaths. It doesn't seem to happen too often and it kinda looked like an asthma attack to me. She's a 2 year old border collie mix, adopted from the humane society. She's a bit underweight because it's only been about 2 and a half months since we got her. Is there anything I can do for my dog when she starts having one of her 'asthma attacks'? Is there any kind of medicine I can get for her either? We're going to schedule a vet appointment, but It's not for awhile. Can anyone help me out?
Answers:
Hi,
First, I'd call a vet or visit a vet to find out what is going on.
Second, It could be one of the following: 1) bee or wasp sting; 2) spider or other insect bite; 3) allergic reaction to some plant; 4) insecticide poison; 5) allergy or 6) someone putting poison in your yard.
If an allergy, then an allergy test needs to be done.
I have asthma, but I've never heard of animals having it in my 60 years.
At least call a vet and see what they've got to say - your dog is in misery. Good Luck
hi, get her to the vet a.s.a.p. and he/she will guide you as to how to treat your pet. asthma is just as serious in pets as it is in humans so don't put it off!
good luck, with good care your pet will be with you for many years!
Well my dog, when he is fetching the ball outside over and over, my family and i would have to hold to so he can calm down and stop wheezing, so i pretty sure dogs can have asthma.
It's Possible So Take Him/Her To The Vet Asap!
