What can we do...?

Question:What can my non profit organization do to earn money for the local animal shelter.

we r teen agers

so far we have thought of:

lemonade stand
a dog treat stand- sell home made dog treats- custom decorated bowls and collars and leashes
a dog walk- a-thon at the park
dog walking
pet care
pet wash
we havent done all of these yet, but thought if these.

what else can we do?? we wont something that is original and will grab buyers attention and that will actually work! Maybe some that r Dog related. but they dont HAVE to be.

Thanx!

I think you're REALLY onto something with the pet care idea. I don't know if you've investigated it at all but having someone come to your house to let your pet out for 30 minutes or so costs anywhere from $30-$40 PER VISIT where I live (Milwaukee). A "doggy day care" is less expensive but the cost still gets out of control.

By offering pet care at a reasonable price you're offering a service that I guarantee will be very well received by the people in your area.

You can advertise for free on Craigslist.org.

You can also see if local vets will let you put a donation jar in their locations.

(By the way you're a decent human being for taking your time to earn money for the poor animals in the shelter. In fact, you guys are wonderful!).

i see alot of people doing car washes at the local car parts store. or grocery store.how about doing a car wash at ur local church?what about giving dogs bathes at the dog park that would probally be alot of bizness right there.good luck and keep it up.
why dont you have a car boot stall or something like that, everyone loves a bargain and you will probably ger a lot of customers.
Ok this is what I did to help raise money for the golden rescue near me. I went to Michale's and bought the magnetic rolls of heavy plastic. I then traced out the silhouette of a Golden and cut them out and spray painted them gold. Sold them for 4 dollars each. People loved them and put them on their car trunks! Or on the hatch backs of their SUV's.

You can do this in many dog breeds. It's cheep and it's unique!
Big yard sale! ask all your friends n neighbors for donations. Then go for it!
Offer inhouse grooming services for seniors.
Many dogs are neglected because their owners simply can't give the proper care due to their age.
Good luck with the whole thingie!!
Good for you!

It is great that you are not just asking people to donate money but are willing to work for the shelter. Dog running is new and will get attention. You might even get some local press. IMO, this benefits both the dogs and the people running them as neither group gets enough exercise. Dog walking is common but dog running is unusual.
