why don't dogs get shoes when they are taken for a walk?

Question:horses i suppose get some shoes, don't they?
why not dogs who walk and run as well

Answers:
They do. They're called dog booties (a stupid name for sure) and if you go to herding trials or other places where dogs are doing intense running or work you will sometimes see them. Dogs do have tough pads on their feet, but some dogs (and some breeds) are prone to have more tender pads than others. In my experience, Border Collies and Aussies in particular - even though they are bred for such activity, are prone to have more easily damaged pads than most dogs. While serious dog booties are not particularly cheap, the price is more than worth it to owners of working or competitive dogs who are faced with this problem - they prevent what can be a serious injury to their dog and much more expensive vet bills.

there is such a thing as dog shoes...

Their paws are tough enough to withstand pretty much anything. They do sell shoes though now for dogs but they are pretty expensive, and I can't fathom spending that much for dog shoes when I can be paying a bill or something with that money. =)
They DO make them..although most dogs hate them and will try their hardest to take them off. They really don't need shoes..they have pretty rough little feet.
There are booties made for dogs. Dogs that do heavy work in rough environments wear them (dogs that pull sleds or hike long distances with their owners). Normally, a dog's paw pads are heavy-duty enough to take normal walking around. But in situations where the amount and nature of the walking is more than normal, many dog owners will get the dog booties.
