My puppy's scared of everything!?

Question:I just got a 3 month old puppy and when i went to go see him before i bought him, he was very playful and full of energy, that was one of the reasons why i chose that particular puppy. Now that he's living with me, he hides under any/everything! I try to play with him but he's afraid of his toys and just runs and hides under the couch. What's wrong with him, i understand he's just a baby and i just got him but, what should i do to make him feel more comfortable??

Answers:
Let him come to you. Let him smell things first. (Dont touch the objects to his body) Dogs senses work with: First smell, then sight, then touch. (quite different than ours) I would play with his toys first. Then pet him. You should bring him out of his "secure" hiding place and make him sit with you in a calm area for a extended period of time; until his demeanor changes: such as he lays down and relaxes. I would watch the "Dog Whisperer" which has great clips on all sorts of dog anxieties and how to treat them. One thing I learned was that when a dog is scared, aggressive, or whatever behavior you dont like, you're supposed to change their way of thinking by tapping them on the neck to get their attention before the behavior takes control. By tapping and making some sssss sound, your dog becomes distracted and forgets what was bothering him. Anyway, just check it out.

He needs time to adjust to a new place. He was comfortable in his old home and hes not used to ur house yet. He will adjust in about 3-5 weeks. so give him time. the toy thing is just a puppy thing. my cats did it when theywere little too. hope i helped! ~xoxxo
yeah the puppy isnt used to a new person and new enviorment just keep playing with it and slowly interduceing it to new thing slowly
Perhaps if you knew that the 3-4 month window in puppy development are fear imprinting stages where they learn the concept of fear for the first time as a natural defensive instinct they will use for life you'd have thought twice huh?
Continue giving him lots of love and attention. Do not make loud or threatening noise around him and he will come around! There isn't anyone around him that is misusing him when you aren't there, correct!
