Question:a rescued pom recently came into my life, he is only about 6 months old, i really like his coat right now, it isn't a big puff ball. it is long, fairly straight, and just slightly puffy. he looks like a little fox.
i know he hasn't gotten his adult coat yet, but could his looks now be a sign that he won't get a cotton-ball coat? is there anything i can do when i brush or bathe him that will stop his coat from becoming overly fluffy?
i know most people get poms because they like the look of the puffy coat, but i simply prefer his sleeker puppy coat.
he does not have papers, i was told by the former owner that the breeder didn't want to go through the hassle of getting them. i'm hoping he is one with a faulted coat, so it won't get puffy.
Answers:
I have a pom who is now 1 1/2 yrs old. The breeder told me she would lose her coat at 6 months and it will grow back "poofy" It didn't. She looks like a little fox. her hair is long and we did nothing to make it that way. Some pom breeds have longer hair. I think you got one like i did. I love that dang dog! LOL Poms ROCK!
well they are meant to be fluffy so there really isnt anything to do other than shaving him!!!
You could try getting his hair cut so that he isn't puffy, but I'm afraid that if you do this he won't have any puff at all. You could always just get him trimmed at the groomers!
Hope this helps, good luck and God Bless

shave it?
lets see... either shave it or give it away because they are eakways going to be puffy!
if you were smart you would know that the pomeranians are famous for the puff
me my self would know because i used to breed them
the pomeranian should not be with a person who doesn't know any thing about them
so sit on that and spin
Pom are fluffy dogs! So all will be fluffy, they get fluffy as they get older!
You can give them a hair cut! My friend takes her pom to the groomers and has them cut her hair so it's short.

Has some tips on grooming your pom's long fur, though it doesn't show how take the puffiness away, just to keep the fur out of stuff.
