10 Yr old German Shepherd Mix?

Question:Our 10 yr old German Shepherd mix is starting to kinda lose balance on her back legs... I have noticed rarely when she climbs the stairs. Other than that , I dont notice anything strangely. She is very active and still acts like a young dog, still running around after balls and chasing us around the yard. I was wondering if anyone had a mix and what the life expectancy is and any thoughts on the back legs... I hope its just my imagination cause no one has witnessed it but me. Its almost like they give out for a brief second. It has happened only a handful of times also. Any thoughts???

Answers:
well a mix will live longer usually then pure brd dogs i would say max 18 but probably 13 or 14 depending on how hard the life has been. Also she probably since having a german shepherd in her blood may have hip dysplasia it is very common in german shepherds, also she may have some sort of arthritis she is getting old and thats what hapens sometimes. i would say keep watching her to make sure it does not get worse but if it does take her to the vet and they can prescribe some pain medicine for her. good luck

well, sounds 2 me liek ur dog has arthis in his back kegs or hip problems. it occurs a lot in older, bigger dog. i suggust going 2 ur vet 2 check her out.
You should have her checked by a veterinarian. They will most likely recommend x-rays. A common disc disease in german shepherds spondylosis, and this is also present in shepherd mixes. Another possibility is arthritis.
