I own wolf hybrids. I've had 11 in my short life.
What some people say about wolf hybrids being untrainable, unsafe around children, crazy, vicious, and whatever is so untrue. It all depends on how the owner treats and raises them. It also depends on what it is crossed with, like if it is half pit bull or something like that, than that would be the part of the hybrid that would make it vicious, not the wolf part.
My wolf dogs are half German Shepherd. I would trust my wolf dogs with small children more than I would trust a Golden Retriever (A Golden once attacked a kid in my neighborhood)

no where... your not allowed to have wild animals ... unless you are a professional
bad things happen when inexperienced people own wild animals with no authority...
why not a nice dog... if your into Arctic.. then go for a husky or a malamute
Before you decide that a "wolf" or "wolf hybrid" is for you, please read my website. It will also tell you how to avoid getting taken by bad breeders selling mutts that are misrepresented as wolf hybrids (wolfdogs).
Wolves and wolf hybrids do not make good pets. They are for serious, educated people who are interested only in dedicating themselves to the entire lives of the animal. It is a complete lifestyle change, and very expensive to own one. Wolf pups are pups, not cubs. A lot of breeders will use the word "cubs" to make it sound like they have wolf in their pups for sale and add a few hundred dollars to the selling price.
Did you know that true high content wolfdog, captive raised wolves, Arctic wolves and Arctic cross puppies are never born white? There are approximately 50 captive raised Arctic wolves in the world and over 90% of the so called "Arctic" breeders are selling white German Shepherds, Eskimo dogs, Piebald huskies, Samoyeds and Great Pyrenees pups as Arctic wolfdog crosses or wolves. This is one of the most misrepresented wolf and wolf hybrid pup sold today.
Real Arctic wolf adults usually turn pure white by the time they 5 years old. People sell misrepresented dog mixes or wolf hybrid mixes as Arctic wolves or wolf hybrid pups to try to charge up to 2000 dollars or more to rip off uneducated buyers. High content wolf hybrid pups, wolf pups and Arctic wolf pups are not born with pink toes, pink noses, nor do their parents have blue eyes like the eyes of the Siberian husky. Arctic wolves and wolf pups are consistent in their looks and they do NOT look like malamute, husky or shepherd pups.
Breeder websites claiming they are selling Red wolf, Mexican Red Wolf, Buffalo Wolf, Black Arctic wolf, Mackenzie Mountain Wolf, Mexican Gray Wolf, among many other types of wolf crosses are false. Federal regulations are strict on the Red Wolf and Mexican Gray wolf re-introduction and only Wildlife facilities are federally licensed to captive own these wolves. If any breeder tells you they have captured or been given a Red Wolf, or Mexican Gray wolf from the wild by any entities such as Fish and Game or any other group, this is a complete falsehood.
There are no Arctic wolves with blue eyes. There are no Arctic wolves who produce black Arctics.
Did you know real wolf hybrid breeders who are not misrepresenting their animals would have verifiable pedigrees? So do captive raised wolf pups. They have pedigrees going back to the original zoo stock wolves.
Did you know there are no breeders in the United States who have Red wolf, Mexican grey wolf in their pedigrees, even if the pedigrees state as such? Red wolves are endangered, and so are Mexican Grey wolves. Did you know some breeders will actually be stupid enough to try to convince the uneducated buyer that they found a wolf pup in the wild, or Fish and Game gave them a wolf pup after the parents were killed, or some other ridiculous fabrication? This is completely false, and the breeder who tells you this is lying through their teeth.
Did you know wolves and high content wolf hybrids are only born once a year during the months of April and May give or take a week or two? This is a fact.
If you want to get a wolf hybrid and don't have the education it takes to own one, you will probably buy one anyway and certainly will find some idiot who will be stupid enough to sell you a misrepresented mutt. If you do not want to be educated and want to breed misrepresented pups from breeders who misrepresent their animals you are part of the problem, not part of the solution of a responsible wolf hybrid owner.
But if you do actually care about these magnificent animals and are willing to do what it takes to own one, after reading my site and the resources, then you may make a difference and become a responsible, ethical wolf hybrid owner. Or if you are interested in trying a low content wolf hybrid you can contact me for places where you can adopt wolf hybrids rescues.
When you visit my website, after you click and go into the "enter page" click on the banner to purchase CUBS, There are NONE better! The quality is unsurpassed! When you get to the "cubs" page go down and click on "Purchase" Read and learn.
There are no wolf pups or high content wolfhybrid pups that are born white, have blue eyes or rear dew claws. That is a dog trait. Low content breeders who have very little wolf in their stock can produce white pups. This is the dog side, not the wolf side.
I am not selling pups to the general public, and if you want to research and educate yourself and feel that a wolfhybrid would be something you are interested in the future, feel free to write me by visiting my “contact” page on my site. I’ve raised wolfhybrids for 12 years.
Another warning for those who want to find a breeder for wolfhybrids is this. If the breeder tells you that they don't have verifiable pedigrees, run far away.
All reputable wolf and wolfhybrid breeders have pedigrees that go back to the original zoo stock or fur farm stock. If the breeder tells you pedigrees don't matter, don't buy from them. Pedigrees that are verifiable DO matter. Ask for references to their veternarian, and for previous owners of their animals to make sure none of them have hip displasia. A good wolfhybrid breeder will have their breeding stock either ofa'd or pennhipped and should be good or excellent.
And do not buy from any website that will ship you any animal before you can actually go and see the parents. A lot of breeders use the "bait and switch" and you pick your pup up from the airport and will never know exactly what this pup is.
have you tried northern Canada?
I wouldn't recommend looking for a wolf pup. Instead, why not a husky or malamute. I'm a huge fan of wolves too, but they should be left in the wild or in refuges under the watchful eye of professionals.
Wild animals should never be kept as pets. They don't get the proper diet nor environmental stimulation and usually die or become manic depressives. And keep in mind, that they are wild animals and will behave as such.
400+ breeds of dogs and you can't find something domesticated to suit you?
This is probably a bad idea dude, it will probably be aggressive and end up biting people
Simple answer - you can't. Wolves are not and cannot be domesticated.
