Question:I have an almost 2 year old Pomeranian who completely hates being outside. When she has to use the bathroom, we put her out and then she has these fits when we don't bring her back in right away. She acts as though something is outside killing her and its so annoying. And then she loves to use the bathroom in the house even though she knows to go outside.
Answers:
You need to go outside with her and gradually work at leaving her. It sounds as though she is having some separation anxiety issues when you leave her there alone. Take her and walk her in the yard and tell her to go pee. When she does praise her. It sounds like it's not the outside she hates as much as being separated from you. Is she spending too much time alone throughout the day? Is it possible something happened to her out there, and she is scared? Thunder storm or another dog?
My expierence with the smaller dogs I have been around is that they are more acustomed to being inside dogs..so it probally explains atleast a little bit. Some dogs are just better for the indoors and hate it outside I guess.
crate her when in the house to prevent relapses.
there is a special tiem in puppyood when learning occurs and if the pup is not socialized during this time they will be afraid of new things. also if they are traumatized during this time they cant be trained out of it without much dedication. Perhaps something like this happened.
Also she may have just figured out that you are a softie for her tantrums ? =)
well, i have a maltese, pomeranian, and poodle none of them like to be outside. its the breed. Also your dog probably got used to being inside
If you adopted her her past owner might have heart her some way so she hates it out side.
