Question:Somone suggested I use a vinegar and water mixture to treat ear mite and infectoins in my dog's ears. They didn't say what proportion of water to vinegar I should use. Anyone know?
Answers:
My vet sold me great stuff called "Derma Pet Ear Cleanser." I used it as directed--the entire bottle. I thought I'd have to keep buying the stuff, but her ears have been okay for months now. I do wipe them out daily with cotton.
you can buy a liquid solution to help clean out their ears if not over the counter then definately from a vet... probably much safer than haphazzardly putting things in your dogs ear.
Just get some ear-wash from the petstore, it's cheap and it works, also, for extra comfort, I walk around with the bottle underneath my arm for a bit so it isn't too cold.
you need to take the dog to a vet and find out what type of infection these are. It could be yeast, bacterial, fungal, etc.
The vet can prescribe something to cure it.
You need to find out the cause, which could be allergies, including food allergies, or even getting water in the ear. That will help prevent future infections.
Do not put vinegar and water in your dog's ears, it may do more harm than good.
No Vinegar - dogs naturally have some waxy build up to protect their ears, using vinegar will destroy the natural ph balance. Petsmart has pretreated wipes, qtips, sprays, all sorts of things. Using these on a monthly basis will keep your dog's ears clean and stink free.
There is a product on the market called "Thornit". It is a powder specially for ear mites. I use it regularly on my dogs and it keeps their ears as clean as a whistle.
Just tap "Thornit" into your search engine and you can read all about it. You can buy it on line www.hyperdrug.co.uk
You just need to sprinkle a pinch of powder on the inside flap of the ear. The instructions are in the pack.
First.STOP listening to MORONS!!
INSECTS(ear mites) need INSECTICIDES *&* INFECTIONS need ANTIBIOTICS!
DUH?
BRAIN UP!
See your vet and get this treated properly.
Dogs rarely get ear mites.
If it's ear mites, it needs ear mite treatment.
If it's yeast, there are several things you can do.
You need to see a vet to determine which problem you have with your dog.
If it's mites, they will give you stuff to put in it's ears.
If it's yeast, it could be due to allergies. Switch his food to a non allergic one like Fish and Chips or Lamb Millet and Rice from http://www.frrco.com/121668 Clean his ears with a solution that also dries the ears.
