My 2 year old chihuahua has terrible breath, what can i do?

Question:I have tried denta bones, and other treats that were supposed to help with bad breath, but nothing worked. Anyone have any ideas?

Answers:
small dogs do tend to be more prone to dental probs.
take him to the vets for a check up on his teeth as he may have an infection or something/

Talk to your vet. My neighbors brush theirs teeth. They make doggie tooth brushes and doggie thooth paste. Hope I helped. God Bless.
i've seen doggy mints at pet stores. try that.
maybe you should take him to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. or try brushing his teeth at home.
there may be some food left in between his teeth and you need to brush it out.

going to the vet would be easier since most dogs don't like their owners brushing their teeth but it can be very expensive
change his diet, get a blood test done at the vets to check that there are no abnormalities, and of course a dental chk, those chews dont work, get a dog toothpaste and finger brush and start to clean his teeth yourself.
alas, i too have had trouble with my doggies breath. and like you, a lot of the treats that are supposed to get rid of it , don't. one corrolation i found is that anything meat-flavored makes it worse. i stopped feeding my dog those meat-basted treats and meat flavored dog buscuits, and switched him to a dog food that was a variety food like kibbles and bits, and it did wonders! something else you could try are soft peppermints, some dogs love em and some don't...but its the ultimate quick fix if you do. but, i also have to say to make sure your'e pooch doesn't have an oral infection or anything like that, because those can get out of control if you don't treat it.
you might be able to change his food, or it might be because he is nervous. he might just have bad breath
Small dogs tend to be prone to dental problems and bad breath. Gingivitis can cause bad breath. You need to take him/her to the vet for a check up. Tell them everything you have tried to get rid of the bad breath. They will probably need to do dental cleaning to remove any build up of plaque and tartar. This should take care of the bad breath until the build up returns.

Some small dogs require yearly dental cleanings to help keep their teeth and gums healthy. After a cleaning you can help buy purchasing a doggie toothbrush and doggie toothpaste. Brush his/her teeth once a week or every two weeks and this will help to keep the build up from returning as quickly.

Good Luck!
brush his teeth. you can buy chicken flavoured toothpaste!
