Mortgage your home. Put it on the credit card.
What a loser.
We just bought a chihuahua puppy a few weeks ago . He is registered and we only had to pay $300 for him. Just save up the money and buy it.
Save up your money and buy it. If you can't save up the money, you probably won't be able to make the necessary payments (or pay the costs incidental to pet ownership).
If you are trying to purchase a puppy from a pet store you will probably pay over $1000.00 for the puppy.
Depending on where you are in Florida, I may have another option. I raise Chihuahuas and have a new litter, often the prospective buyer will make weekly or by weekly payments on the pet until it is 11 weeks old, than they can pick the pet up.
A vast majority of my buyers are elderly and they are on a fixed income.
You can also try the shelters, (good luck with that) unfortunately there is so much sickness in the shelters that the pet you initially get for little or no cost, will cost you double or triple in vet care.
FOLLOW UP: I would email you to let you know I don't think my offer would work for you (you do not allow email contact)
A Chihuahua is such a tiny fragile little thing, they do not work well as play toys for other dogs. They are primarily used as lap warmers and really need to be held and loved on constantly, as you stated you do not have sufficient time to devote to the pets you have now, a Chihuahua would not be a good choice as they require constant attention and wither without your 100% attention. Good luck getting a companion for your other dog, but I really do not believe a Chihuahua would be an ideal choice.
if you have to "finance" a dog, then you are NOT going to be able to pay for everything the poor thing needs. vet bills, toys, food, etc. you'll never make it. don't do it. i got a mini-dach, purebred, and he has cost us an arm and TWO legs to pay for the shots, illnesses, food, training, etc. and he just turned a year old! his vet bills are astounding, and he eats like a horse, and rips up every toy ever bought! i love him to death, but his second round of shots the other day just cost us $300. his first round a year ago cost $500. his pancreatis cost $660, and his other visit cost $300. that's in the first year!
you need to seriously RETHINK getting a puppy that you can't even afford to purchase in full. you'll regret getting the poor thing, and that will be one more dog in the pound. i have a feeling that you will be buying little outfits as well.just a hunch.
Check for Chi puppies on http://www.petfinder.com
DONT go to a petstore .. they are sick puppies most of the time and they ALL come from puppymills. This is what you are supporting when you buy a puppy from 'petland' or 'animals and things': http://stoppuppymills.org/inside_a_puppy...
And you shouldnt buy another dog just because 'your other dog' needs a playmate. No he doesnt. As long as YOU play with him and give him all the attention .. he'll be fine. My dog is a loner and as long as I play with him .. hes content.
Take your dog for a walk and play some fetch! Then he wont look so bored! You cant afford a dog, so DONT get one.
I also got a new Dachshund puppy last year (nov.) and I agree .. cost me an arm and a leg! She cost me 800$, food alone is expensive (I dont feed storebought crap), shots, bed, crate, toys, spay/neuter .. etc.
Do NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE!!
I don't care if they give you a 3 year payment plan. You will be paying a huge price for a pup that will be either sick when you bring it home or if lucky enough for it to be healthy now, it will develop genetic health defects eventually. And, pet insurance does not cover genetic health problems. If you don't believe me, phone and ask them or look it up on the Internet. So, you going to take out a payment plan to pay for the $2,000 surgery your dog needs to fix it's luxating patella, or whatever else may end up being wrong? Or, will you put the dog to sleep and be still paying on your installment plan for a dead dog.
