Question:can i give my dog london broil steak from safeway hes 6 month old apbt?
Answers:
Yeah meat won't hurt them.. The only thing you need to worry about is meat w/ bones.. They can't eat cooked bones.. You do want to avoid pork too, it's way too fatty and can cause pancreas problems.
i've heard you can give dogs a raw diet..and i'm talking raw..uncooked! but the only thing that you can't give to them uncooked in pork..so i'd say try a little bit..or wait till monday and call your vet and see what they say.
Sure you can, raw for that matter, but I don't suggest it. I suggest sticking with things made specifically to feed your dog, treats included. Theres a billion and one reasons that human food is not good for your dog. Good luck.
Lucky Dog! You don't plan on giving him the whole steak at once, do you? That might be a little bit of an overdose for a 6 month old. By the way, are you prepared for him to really like it and not eat his regular food anymore?? Dogs are funny that way.
better give him a dogie trick
I'd suggest it not be raw. Not joking* -- medium rare. And LB's are usually huge. Portion it out by the size of the dog. And, cut it so he/she can't "gulp" it. Best to feed it by hand so you can taech the puppy to be a "gentle taker".

There's nothing wrong with giving him a little bit but don't let him have it all at once and don't get him used to getting things like that because, like the person above me said, he'll expect that instead of his normal dog food.
You can, but I recommend you cook it up and eat it yourself and get dog food for the dog.
Fresh meat sounds like a wonderful treat for a dog, and I'm sure he'd enjoy it, but commercial dog food contains vitamins and nutrients he needs, which plain meat does not.
Not just the steak but in essence the dog can eat it. You still need carbs and vitamins but yes.
Do you plan to cook it or give it raw? Just curious. The steak should be fine as it is. If he's getting cooked leftovers, try to give him a plain piece without sauces or seasonings. If he's not had steak before, you might not want to give him more than a few bites to get his stomach used to the new food. My dogs eat meat almost every day, sometimes raw, sometimes cooked. They just love it. I have a pitbull/german shepherd cross and she will get her own meat if I don't share some with her. And what she scavenges may have tapeworms or who knows what, besides smelling to high heaven! [Very dead old raccoons from the woods, usually...]
I'm a trainer, and would encourage YOU to eat the steak, not the dog.
I have had people in my classes who wind up cooking their dog chicken breast and rice EVERY DAY TWICE A DAY because, after eating delicious human food, the dog refuses to eat dog food anymore...
In general, it's best to feed your dog a high quality dog food. Feeding human food also encourages begging behavior (very rude), as well as obesity, which is the number one cause of health-related problems in American dogs today.
You gotta be kidding...
What's the price per pound for that London Broil?
I feed my dogs raw...
chicken thighs and legs (with the bones which are safe when uncooked) which I get for $.74/lb.
ground beef - 80/20 which I get for $1.35/lb.
heart and tongue which I get for $.50 each
liver which I get for $1. each
Pork butt roast cut which I get for $1.04/lb.
You should never give a dog (or cat) food that is meant for humans. Stick with dog food since it gives them all the nutrients they need. If you want to give your pet something top of the line...try IAMS puppy food. It's a little bit on the expensive side (compared to the rat food that they pass off as dog food in the supermarkets), but it's the only food I have ever fed my pets. None of my animals have ever had any health problems and they live long lives. I had my cat for 24 years and he died of natural causes in his sleep...was never sick a day in his life and he only ate IAMS. I also have a 11 year old boxer and he has never been sick a day in his life.he has only eaten IAMS.
What?! You bought him London Broil? Don't you know that dogs like T-bone or Porterhouse? Well, it'll have to do for now. A bit of warning: 1. a large portion of meat often causes constipation. 2. do not season the meat. 3. it's not a good idea to give a pitbull raw meat just before walking him. he becomes very hard to control and he really can't help it. 4. make sure you eat some first so he knows who's in charge.
Yes, you can give your dog the steak either raw or cooked, but you need to be aware that you shouldn't give him too much if he's not use to it. What's "too much" depends on the size of your dog. I always mix reg. dog food w/any human food. Also, as already suggested, a dog can get "spoiled" on human food, so I recommend that you make human food a "special" treat rather than every day food. My little dogs also like cooked eggs, cottage cheese, raw chicken (the fav), cooked hamburger, veggies (no onions) etc. What you don't want to do is feed daily table scraps because your dog will not get a balanced diet. My dad's dog was feed table scraps (including meat fat & KF leftovers) & ended up with "stones" the size of a school eraser!
