Question:Hi, I have a maltipoo. It is a mix between a maltese and a poodle. The thing is I have had my dog for about six months and it is constantly hyper. Even when it's night time, the dog is still hyper. She does these playful bites and jumps on me a lot. How can I stop this?
Answers:
I agree with the training and exercise. Dogs need interaction and need to learn how to have socially acceptable behaviours. The exercise will help with his physical needs and the training will help with mental stimulation.
I have 2 border collies and there aren't many dogs more high energy than this breed. We give them a minimum of 2 hours of active exercise a day as well as lots of mental stimulation by teaching them obediance and tricks. Your little guy won't need as much exercise as these 2, but the principles are the same. And sticking a dog out in the back yard and expecting them to exercise themselves won't work. They'll just sit there and wait for you to entertain them. LOL
Something that might help you with the night time thing is crate training. When properly introduced, dogs love their crates. They're a safe haven and "den" for them. They can really save your sanity at times. Our guys love their crates and go there when they want some quiet time.
Good luck.

You should to go the vet and I think they can give you some anxiety medication for your puppy. Good luck! Most puppies are hyper!
No matter what breed you have, or in this case what mutt you have, a dog with high energy needs one thing.exercise! You should be walking this dog at least an hour per day. Maybe take it for a run, or ride your bike or skateboard or rollerskate so the dog has to work harder and get tired faster. Poodles and poodle mixes are usually high energy intelligent dogs that need some sort of activity to keep them mentally challenged. Agility, fly ball, or obedience trials are a good way to challenge your dog and teach it submissive appropriate behavior.
neuter your dog, or if you actually put the dog in a cage, don't do it so much, since dogs get cage crazed and tend to be overactive when they are let out.
take it for walks and stuff play with it alot I had a chipoo and he was always hyper unless we ran him around alot during the day
She needs to be taken for more walks, (off the lead of course, on lead walks arent much use) tire her out during the day! Dogs need to be walked or they get like that!
Do you exercise her? Dogs are by nature active creatures. They ABSOLUTELY need exercise. Take her out for a nice walk or toss a ball or play with a frizbee...something every day. If you do that, you'll see an immediate improvement...plus it is healthier for her.
OK everybody will give you a thousand answers but its like loosing weight. The most obvious it is a puppies and puppies play but as in kids you have to train to know where and when ask around call look in the phone book, Find a good trainer they are all over the place. What to look for three week trainer not a have to be but better. They take the dog work with it then they work with you then they work with it then work with you and so on. They have places that work with you and the dog for an hour this works not as well but make sure its not more or less than an hour.Hour works best then make sure its not more than one trainer for every five dogs. Then you Will go two times a week for a month. These will cost you some money or if all Else fails you can throw the dog in the back yard and wait for him to get old and grow out of it. The first worked with me and my Lab An two Jack Russel's those are crazy dogs when they are puppies. After no chewing no jumping and well mannered.
Spend time DOING something with the dog. A dog needs exercise. Walks, jogs, fetch..and train it. Poor dog, it is bored.
