Question:The puppy I bought comes from pure bread parents but the father's parents never bothered to register him. Is there a way to get him registered just with the mother's papers?
Answers:
the AKC has made provision for registering pupies similar to yours, look it up on their website
Yes! The AKC!
Look up the number to your local American Kennel Club!
AKC will not register any puppy unless both parents are registered. There are other registries that will. CKC is one that will.
No - the breeder needs to register the litter and both parents must be registered in order to do that. Your puppy cannot be registered.
CKC is a bogus puppy mill registry. You don't need a registered dog unless you plan to show it for conformation and CKC doesn't work for that.
go to a kennel club or the town hall
If you REALLY feel a need to register your dog, you can contact the AKC about DNA testing...I have heard that if any of the dog's ancestors have registered DNA, you may be able to trace the dogs lineage. Honestly, though, if the breeder didn't bother to register their dogs, and bred them anyway, they probably were not breeding for quality, and cute and perfect as your dog may be, likely, he won't be suitable for breeding, either.
For pet dogs, an AKC registration is just a piece of paper, and for serious breeders, a dog like yours is not going to qualify for breeding. I do NOT endorse breeding dogs that are not going to be shown, there are too many in shelters to do that, BUT, if you are very serious about breeding (not just to make money, but to better the breed), you'll want FANTASTIC breeding stock, and a dog with unregistered parents isn't going to cut it.
