Question:My brothers dog is part pitbull and part black lab. he is about 5 years old. He has 2 round bald spots on the top of his head. One about the size of a quarter, and one smaller then a dime. What could this be from? And what could he do to treat it?

It sounds like it needs to be checked by the vet. It could be ringworm or it could just be hot spots. You need to get the dog checked for ringworm first. If it is hot spots there are topical sprays you can use to dry them up. Take your dog to the Vet.
It could be anything, mange or flea allergies..or something else. I would advise you to tell him to take the dog to the vet.

The vet can give a pill to treat it. You may want to also get some ringworm treatment for yourself from the doctor, since ringworm can be a pain to get rid of! Treat everyone in the house, and wash everything in hot water that you wear, sleep on, or the dogs sleep on.
It could be ringworm. Are the spots red and sort of scaly? I would take it to the vet and ask the nurse or desk attendant if they can just tell you if it is and give you the medicine. I thought one of my cats had it because of the bald spots but the vets office said it could be many things, even a staff infection.
I was told that Lotrimin can treat ringworm if you want to try that first, but go to the vet.
Our little Yorkie developed a 3/4" x 2" long bald strip from his spine area down his side, vet has no idea what it is. We personally think possibly from using Frontline which we no longer use on any of our pets. Have you by chance used this product on him recently?
You should go to the vet and possible have a skin scraping done to check for parasites.
