Question:My 2 yr old fixed doxin always pees on the carpet when I tell him it is time to go into the crate before I go to work or to sleep and he usually has a cocky kind of personality so I do not know why this is happening to him now? Is it because I got him fixed to late, in the beginning of this year or because he might have a infection. He never did this before and he also does it when I tell him to get of the bed his face does not look nervous, I mean he staes at me and pees right there even after i take him out. WHat should I do?
Answers:
He's just intimadated. Practice going in the crate when you aren't going to leave him. Make it fun and exciting. Say his name and tell him crate, kennel whatever toss a small soft dog treat in so he heads in to get it. Give one while he's in then call him back out lots of praise. Be high energy and happy but not too loud since he's already a little timid about being locked up. Repeat this a couple times in a row at odd times through the day. He'll learn that going in isn't a punishment. A treat the size of a pea is about right for training, they shouldn't have to stop to chew it, you don't want them to get full or it looses effect, just a taste of something yummy. Best of luck to you!

i used to have a doxin, and he was a pain in the butt. Whenever we would leave the house he would chew the phone reciever cord and lay right in front of the front door so we would see it when we got home, and he would be laying on top of the table next to the base of the phone. I think that they dont like to be left alone, they are kind of needy and spoiled dogs.
well,my dog pee's when someone she doesnt know very well comes or if someone scolds her! the vet said it was just piddleing cause she is a pup!
LMAO! a crate? what do you do ship him to China first? a crate that so funny LOL
I had one too for years! His name was "Sir Ralph Longfellow" (ralphy) He recently died, but he peed whenever he got excited. He would roll over and let a little go constantly! I dont think there is anything you can do about that but clean it up. You have to punish him if he is just outright peeing though. Let him know it is not accepted. Small dogs like that are known for not doing well with house training. You dog is old enough though and if he just started doing it, I would ask your vet because I would think, either he had an infection or he is getting back at you for taking away his manhood (lol)
This is most likely a sign of stress. Dogs tend to urinate unintentionally when they are under a lot of stress. Your dog probably does not want to go in his crate so it sort of panics when you tell him to do so. The only thing that I think would help if this is the case is a new form of calming meds that just came out for pets. It is like a mist that releases in the air to calm animals. I don't remember the name of the product, but if you ask your Vet I'm sure they could tell you.
