Any one knows how long mallard ducks lay eggs during the year.?

Question:Hi, I have 2 ducks boy and girl. My female mallard duck is 10 months old, and she started laying one egg every day since march first, when she was 6 months old. Now it is more than 3 months and I have add calcium to her dite to make sure she is not calcium deficient, but how much longer is she going to lay one egg every day. I take all her eggs except one, because I don't want her eggs to hatch.

Answers:
Quit taking her eggs away! You are just upsetting her! She will lay approximately 12 eggs then begin sitting on them. You can sell the ducklings to the feed store for at least $1.00 each if not $2.00+. Talk to the manager of your local feed store and ask them if they are willing to accept the ducklings in trade for product such as duck food. There are people who would give you $5.00 each for the ducklings if you were to advertise them for sale or put up fliers! She will keep on laying them until she gives up! **************** Or take all the eggs away and quite leaving one! She is trying to complete her clutch of eggs!

Hopefully you won't be cruel enough to sell the ducklings to a feed store!

If you look around online you should be able to find some fake eggs which you can replace her eggs with so she still has something to sit on. Or you can prick the eggs or dip them in paraffin oil which kills the embryo. Make sure you do this as soon as they are laid though so it's not cruel to the baby.
