Can a cockatail mate with a Parakeet?

Question:I have one male cockatail and two female parakeets. My male Sunny has been chasing my female parakeet Tweet for the past three day's. I was wondering if they could make a new species! A cockateet!

Answers:
No sorry honey it would be physically impossible! It would be very cool if it could happen but it will not they are unable to reproduce together

No

That is like breeding apples and oranges. They wouldnt be interested in each other that way either
No, I dont think its possible. I have a male cockatiel whos name is Sunny too!
Hello. I have had that question myself. But thankfully, i know the answer now. It is a definate NO that you can not breed a Male Cockateil with a Female Parakeet. First of all because their instincts only attract them to the same breed. Second of all, cockateils have much larger eggs. The egg bearing of your parakeet would probably not turn out to well. Thrird, both breeds have a different set of chromosones and a different DNA structure. If in all ways, the parakeet did lay an egg from the cockateil, the baby would have some physical destortion. But, that is not cabable because your parakeets body would reject your cockateils "genes", if you know what i mean. I know it is difficult to understand because different breeds of dogs can mate, but birds, just must be alot more picky. I hope this helps.
no they cant because the parakeet will reject the cockateils genes and they are only attracked to there same breed.
I would suggest to you the male Teil is chasing the keet's to drive them away, certainly not to mate and breed with them.

Your duty is to protect all your birds, so stop this behavior and put the birds safety apart - caged separately

Then read online at the good web sites and learn about birds in general and Parakeets,Budgies and Cockatiles cage requirments, diets, hormonal issued, breeding, and all other avain subjects to better educate yourself and in turn be a better bird parent and you also will appreciate and enjoy your birds much more too.
