Could he possibly be molting? Or are the feathers just flaling out like he's bald? If he's becoming bald then take him to an avian vet and get bloodwork done. It could be stress, and allergy, or a skin condition. He's probalby just molting, bird do this at least once a year sometimes more often. They lose their feathers and then grow in new ones. Make sure he's not molting before you go to the vet and get your bird all stressed out.

loosing isn't a word.
birds constantly moult their feathers, this is so hat if they were in the wild it would help them get rid of any feather mites they might have picked up. they go through 2 major moults a year, so could it be this that you are seeing, with the weather this year (if you are in the UK) most birds are moulting very irregularly because of the constant change in temperature. when you say he is losing his feathers, are they the little white under feathers (the downy feathers) or are they the colored ones? is he losing so much feathers that he is appearing bald? or does he not seem to be getting bald because new feathers are growing at the same rate that they are being removed? we need more info.

i haven't really ever heard of a budgie pulling another birds feathers out, budgies don't generally do that. id probably say the other was over preening rather than actually pulling them out.

all i can say though with this little info you have given, if you are EVER worried about ANY pet, please take it to the vet. and let a proper team give you a diagnosis, or is nothing else ease your mind. it isn't worth the health of the budgie to not take it the vets if there is indeed something wrong.
the water that you give him is it straight from the tap, im not a bird expert but my grandad is and im sure he said tap water as something to do with this, apparently you should boil the water and let it cool before giving to the birds?
he is probably going thru a moult just keep looking at the bald areas and see if there are new feathers coming in they should look like little pins and if so make sure to bathe or spray him with water a few times a weeks to help the discomfort of getting new feathers.. if after a week you don't see any new feathers coming in take him to the vet asap to rule out disease.. good luck
Sounds like he's moulting, they do from time to time, mine is at the moment. When they are in moult they do pull their feathers out, I suppose they can feel the feathers coming out and perhaps it annoys them and they just give it a bit of a pull to remove it, it's very natural. Birds can preen each other when they're moulting by pulling out the others feathers, as long as there's no agression involved then it's not a problem. Birds can lose feathers if they have a skin condition but then they usually get big bald patches and the feathers refuse to grow back until it's treated. If that ever happens your vet can advise you on this or even at the large pet stores. I think with your bird it's just moulting, it can be a bit scary, the amount my budgie loses you would expect him to end up bald, but he never does. Sometimes they also pull out those great big tail feathers, but it's nothing to worry about it's just natural. Don't fret about them I'm sure it's fine they're just doing what budgies do really. All the best!
all birds go through a molting period, they lose all their feathers in a slow process and the grow new ones where the old ones fell out
Your bird's just molting. If he's going bald like you can see the skin ask a vet or bird expert about it.
I haven`t had my budgies loosing feathers, but I have had two grey pied Cockatiels go bald around the head and neck, not sure if it is the breed though. I have had them with females, and it looks as if they over preen the males and consequently they loose all except a little bit around the sides of the head.
It does`nt hurt them unfortunately it does not seem to regrow as if the folicles have been removed.
They look quite funny just like a vulture in minute form.
Have lived for at least 4 years like this with no problems.
so dont worry, it may be you have a pair and they are doing the same. Just being loving towards each other.
