Question:I am going to get a pet parrot soon and this is going to be my first real pet. I am pretty excited but I know about pets nor birds. So i have some questions and would really appreciate help
How many times should a parrot be fed? and what exactly does it eat?
What other things do they require? like a clean cage and so on?
What is the best kind in parrots and how much would it cost? I live in US so according to that
Also can you provide a few names for parrots
thnx a lot :)))

First off you need to read on some species that fit your lifestyle. I recommend checking out http://www.centralpets.com/pages/birds/p...
to read up on some species that you may be considering.

Also has good information for people new to the parrot world, it's not a long article ro anything but says everything poeple usually don't think of before buying a parrot. A parrot needs to be feed once in the morning, with pellets and seed as well as fresh veggies and fruits. Of course lories are different, they require a special liquid diet http://www.birdbaby.com/diet.htm... which makes them almost 2 times as messy! I say this because many people don't know it and get those lovely birds adn then can't provide proper care. They require roomy cages that require at least weekly cleanings, and then ltos and ltos of toys and perches in as well as outside of the cage too. The best kind can't be determined really by a stranger as myself. it deends on your lifestyle...but I would consider either a parrolet, cockatiel, or if you can handle a little bit of extra noise perhaps a green cheek conure or one of its mutations? Around here a tiel or parrolet cost around 100 dollars, but conures are at least 250. My gold capped ocnure cost me 499 and then the cage cost 375 and then about 70 bucks in toys and perches. Then I recommend a pellet diet which is mroe expensive then seed alone. then vet care too. A few names, as in ept names? My amazon is Joeseph but Joey or Joe for short. Then huey the lovebird sometimes we call her Hue...strange I know! Then my conure is named Gizmo because of how weird she is! lol Names can come from anything, just try adn keep them 1 or 2 syllablys so the bird can remember it easier. PLEASE read up on getting a parrot before purchasing ones, also maybe you'd rather rescue a parrot? 2 of my birds are rescue, not from rescues but birds that would eventually be given to a rescue or put somewhere...not a loving home though. :( I would read up on parrots in generals, there are many books in the library or even Parrots for Dummies is a good book to get. Also realize birds require ltos of attention. When raised with poeple they become dependent on their love and care, which is why they are so difficult to keep happy. Do yourself and your future companion the favor of doing your research before getting you new friend.

Quaker Parrots are to me, the best to have. They are very lovable and easy to train. Yes their cages need to be cleaned at least every other day. They eat at least once a day. Just put food in their bowel and when they are hungry they'll eat, but they need fresh water everyday sometimes 2-3 times a day depending on their wash cycle. My bird likes to bath every morning, just before sunrise. In some states parrots are illegal so check it out before you get one. Best wishes to you and yours.
First of all since you know nothing about birds, you need to do alot of research on all differnt kinds of birds, what works for one person may not suit you, birds need alot of attention just like any pet, I've got a Budgie parakeet , he's quiet he'll chrip and get a screech going on but he's not loud like my Quaker Parrot, who talks ALOT, and very clearly but when he screeches it's littlerly ear piercing if he's on my shoulder and screeches really loud my ear will ring for a good hour, and i have trouble hearing out of it (feals like its clogged up)
I give mine fresh food and water every morning, and depending on how much of thier food (mostly my quaker is the only one who does it) got dipped into thier water i only do it once daily but my quaker likes to dip his plain cheerios ( used for treats) into his water then eat them
depending on what kind of bird you get is how you go about getting thier food, You don't want to feed them a all seed diet, it's unhealthy, You will want to give them fresh fruits and vegies also - but you'll have to decide on a bird you want first then do all the research on that particular bird, Some birds can have certain fruits and other's can not, There is alot of websites with Toxic lists from food to tree branches
Just do alot of research
but some birds are Cockatiels, Cockatoos,Quakers,Sun conure, eaisest way i can tell you to find differnt breeds of parrots is to put "parrots" into your search engine and go to differnt websites and read up on them
they need a decent sized cage for my Budgie Parkakeet the recommended size is a 18x18x18 they need room to fly around when they're in the cage, they also need time OUT of the cage to move around they need thier wings clipped For thier safty! and yours
but please do ALOT of research on birds before you get one, that way you don't get "Bored" with it or it wasn't what you thought it was going to be and then it gets neglected!
You must do more research before you get a parrot.
I recommend handfed, hand raised Quaker Parrots as a good bird to have at first. I understand they cost $140 give or take..

a parott will do differant things according to age, they live along time, and need about as much attention as a toddler, normally they will be real load in the mornings and in the evening, they get fed once a day and the food varies by species,i clean my cage once a day becouse they are real messy animals, the prices range from,500-1200 dollars a gage will cost you about 500 dollars, and they need alot of toys not only to keep them busy but for exercise as well good luck
