Anyone knows how to catch a Dove? the bird that makes "hoo hoo" noise?

Question:I just wanna catch a Dove, I wont harm it, or anything, I mean i could simply buy one, but it cost money, this method is free :)

Answers:
This method is far from free, if you are caught. If you are in the US, and several other countries, you do not catch doves. They are protected by federal law, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Fines for capturing protected species are substantial.

There are many dove species that are sold in pet stores and by reliable breeders. If you want a pet dove, purchase one of them.

it probably won't cost to much

And you want to catch one why? It could have communical diseases. What is wrong with you people that want "free" or "cheap" pets. They still cost money and you want one that is wild?!?!?!
You would steal a bird from its home for your own selfish needs..?

Stop being selfish and just buy one that is already used to being kept in captivity.
r u gay or wat! Messin wit nature!
Without some way to trap it like in a cage or pigeon trap of some kind it will be almost impossible. You can build a trap (do a search on the net) and bait it with bird feed. We traped some pigeons that had escaped from our coop that would not go back in with a homemade trap.
It might be Illegal you might contact your local Game Warden's office to see. If you get cought then in some places it could be MUCH more expensive that way.
To keep? That would not be right... If you want it to keep, you are better off buying one that was bred to be a pet, wild birds are too prone to diseases that they could pass on to you and other pets.

That said... as a kid I once tried that method from cartoons, box edge propped up with a stick with a string tied to it...pull the string when the animal is under the box. We had a pigeon hanging around one day, I tried it, and it actually worked. lol (I let it go though.)
Yes, it is free and also illegal. All native birds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Go to a breeder or pet store where they sell non-native doves that are bred to be pets.
