I have a 6mths old budgie all he does is sit in the cage and dosent do anything when u go pick him up he bites

Question:all day every day he just sits there
im not sure what i can do about him ?

Answers:
Is this a new Budgie?. Birds take some time to adjust to new surroundings, some as long as three weeks. Budgies are social birds therefore need plenty of company and interaction from the owner of the bird, as well as toy's to play with.Be around your bird often, talk to him gently to reassure him, play some music(Budgies love music). Try not to leave your bird without company for long periods of time.Your bird needs to be placed in a busy part of the house, where he can see/hear what is going on.Check his requirements, food, which should be refreshed and topped up at least three times daily. fresh water must be available at all times. If your bird shows any sign of illness,ie,change in droppings, quiet, fluffed up,not eating, tail flicking etc, see a vet asap...

How long have you had this budgie?

If he's biting he's scared!

You cant train them to sit on your hand over night.

You have to start slowly!

Did the breeder you bought him from hand rear birds or has he never been outside of the aviary until you purchased him?

Ring the breeder or talk to some one who both breeds and trains budgies!

Be patient and gentle.

Some budgies are very intelligent for their size.

Get him some toys meanwhile but NOT a mirror!

Talk or sing to him when you're home.

Leave the radio on for him to have sounds to copy!
Is your bird lethargic? If not, get him to an avian vet ASAP.

Does your bird have lots of toys to play with? If so, does he know how to play with them? Some birds need to be taught to play with toys. If that is the case, you need to teach him how. Rub and hold the toy. Play with it and make lots of exciting noises and act like it's the best thing ever. (Birds can get jealous easily).

Trying giving your bird foraging toys. Birds spend most of their time in the wild foraging for food. (What foraging is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/foraging)...

Remember patience above all with your bird. He's probably scared and that's why he is biting.

There are many different methods for taming a bird. I'd suggest checking out MANY links and reading a few good taming books.

As you can see, there is a lot of good information out there. Good luck.
Try putting a peice of millet spray in your hand and put your hand in the cage do it every day till he is ready to approch you, and try putting toys in the cage but not to many alternate between toys every week to prevent him from getting board. When you pick him up dont grab at him put your index finger on his chest and say "up" when he is ready he will come to you.
