Question:I'm planning on raising a pigeon this summer. The chick will be about 3-4 days old when I pick it up from a friend.
One question though, will it be ok on the 5 hour drive from L.A. to Vegas?
And yes I have done my homework on hand raising pigeons.

Just make sure it stays warm and you feed it during the trip. It should be ok.
it will be fine but to help with the stress make sure you cover the cage..when they cant see whats going on it makes them relax..keep radio not to loud and keep temp comfertable
Yes the pigeon should be fine, as long as you keep the vehicle cool, and try not to take any corners at high speed! And cover the bird up to prevent any un-due stress. I use a small box with a cover over. Make sure there is plenty of holes for breathing though!

Don't put it in the trunk! It's gonna need some air! however, cover it's cage to reduce it's stress, and if it's possible, brake and accelerate gradually so that it can be comfortable. You also might want to turn on the radio: silence is not normal and might stress your bird even more.
It is still very young to handle all that stress. I would recommend waiting until it is older. Have you figured out yet how you are going to feed it on the trip?
sure i would put the bird in pet carrier small one and make some sort of nest for it to lay in and that way he wouldn't get hurt that is best way to travel
