Question:I brought my cat in tonight at around 2:20 am. I noticed a dead House Ren on the back porch. All I could do was gently sweep him up close to the house so it would not be washed away by rising water and no one would step on it in the morning. Well at 4:30 the same night as soon as it stopped raining I took the dog out and the bird was gone. I know what some are thinking. Another cat took it! But our back porch floods horribly and where I had put the bird a cat could not have gotten it unless it waded threw high water. Cats don’t like getting there feet wet so I don’t think it was a cat. And I checked the drain off in case it had been washed off by water it was clear as well. Our back porch drains very quickly so by the time I got outside the porch was almost clear of water. So I dont think a cat could have gotten it then either. The only thing I can think of is that the bird was not dead. I was faking so it could get away. Does anybody else have ideas?

Ya know there was a bird that flew into my window one time and I thought it was dead, I put it in a shoe box because I told my daughters it was sleeping and stuff, it was right before they were to leave for the school bus and I didnt want to freak them out and make them sad right before school. Anyway about 2 hrs later when I went to dispose of the dead bird I found it sitting up in the box ..it was totally out of it though so I was thinking it was not dead but in shock and would die soon. Well a couple hrs after that I was sitting on the porch swing and out of the corner of my eye I seen it bat its wings and fly away I was shocked. I thought for sure this bird was dead I would have bet on it. I did not see any life in it at all no feeling of movement or heart beat and then it just up and flew away like 5 hrs later. Go figure!
it was not playing dead the water must have drowned it somewhere. there is a species of cat called a turkish van, they love to play in the water or another animal could have got it like a hawk.
It's a mystery
I believe tha t the bird must have been "grabbed" by another animal(scavage type).
other than this the only thing that I can think of, is the bird, was "out cold/stunned" I have seen a bird hit a window, we thought it was dead, but in a few minutes, "i" watched the bird wake up.shake it's head....take a couple of hop's and eventually it flew away....alive and unharmed, if you did not notice any blood, then this could have been the case....
