Question:i would like to get a cockatiel for a pet. will it be a good pet? i keep other birds like a lovebird and budgie before. now there are 2 lovebirds at home. i've got a cockatiel before and i really love him but will it be the same if i get a new one? i want to avoid disappointment.

Cockatiels make wonderful pets. I think they're better than budgies and lovebirds.
The new cockatiel won't be the same as your old one though. All birds have their own individual personalities. But most cockatiels share some similar traits that do make them good pets. I suggest getting one that's been handraised. That way they're already used to being handled.
They are excellent. I'm 20 and i've had mine since like I was 2! He is really attached and follows me around the house like a dog when I let him out lol.

I have had my cockatiel for 7 years. They are the best parrots to have. they are kind, gentle creatures. They are easy to tame, they can mimic a few words( my cockatiel can say, hello,bye,wha d'ya get me? and leave money on way out) Please research as much as you can before you buy them and NEVER shout at your bird.
I love my female cockatiel! She's cuddly and playful, and she whistles to me in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. We eat off of the same plate sometimes, and she makes for a great reading buddy.
