My neighbors have a Macaw bird..?

Question:and it screams pretty often. Is that bird unhappy or what? They have it outside in the shade in a not too big cage.

Answers:
You should be lucky enough to live so close to such a wonder of nature. Obviously your neighbor thinks highly enough to leave such a valuable bird outside, so your also lucky enough to live in such a great neighborhood!

That bird (species) is over 80 million years old. They have survived all the predator (tooth even) birds and even outlasted the dinosaurs. We all can learn much from the Majestic Macaw.

He/she is making noise because they are "staking" out their territory. When I was with the US Marine Corps down in South America I could hear flocks of them as far away as six miles. They are a healthy and hearty species of bid, and while most birds remain silent (so as not to alert predators) that Mighty Macaw is "The King Of North America!" Yes that bird at one time roamed all across North America. Now relegated to just minor spots in Central and South America and becoming extinct all over, you have the chance to see one close up!

Congratulations and share in the joy!

Well, Macaws are LOUD so it's normal for it to be loud. If he's always outside though without any attention then yes the bird is probably unhappy. Those birds need a lot of attention.
I hate those damn birds they are always like that, all they do is keep a bunch of noise early in the morning.the bird is naturally annoying even in the wild thats how they are.
It doesn't seem right for it to be outside in a small cage all the time without attention. That would border on neglect. Maybe you should inquire with your local SPCA as to rather or not this is acceptable. Better safe than let a poor pet suffer.
The bird is lonely and unhappy. They are flock animals and this one has no flock.

Check in your state - online - if there is a parrot rescue. Ask your neighbors if they would like the bird to have a good home and give them the number of the parrot rescue place.

Macaws have many needs and this bird is not getting what it needs. Thank you for caring.
First of all, being in the out doors, the bird is getting an important vitamin commonly known as Vitamin D3 which turns into calcium. If you are not watching the bird or the owners 24/7, you can not say, with all honesty, that it's NOT getting attention!

Second, Macaws are loud out of nature if they are not taught to talk human words. They speak macaw talk only. They sqawk to call other macaws of their species. I highly doubt that it will find one of their own kind, but it's trying, LOL.

A little education of birds will take you a long way. Birds bones are hallow. Being outside is the best thing for any bird. Depending on what area you live in, I agree, it's the best policy to keep them indoors from Triple E and West Nile virus, but it's not in all areas in the United States.

Perhaps finding out why your neighbors have the macaw outside would be the start of a new beginning for the bird?

Good Luck!
