Question:It just landed in my yard, we think its left wing is broken, because it just hops around and seems to be completely scared of us.
Answers:
First of all you don't want to try to towel it and catch it.. it is a wild animal and it is scared and hurt you will only do more damage.. call animal control and tell them the situation they might have you call wild animal rescue but more than likely they will come out first and assess the problem and they will contact them.. if you can place a bowl of water and if you have it an ear of corn sunflower seeds even bread crumbs out for him to eat untill they come if he is on the ground and the yard isn't fenced he is in danger of other animals.. I hope they come out soon poor little guy .. good luck
call the rspca/animal control people and get them to catch it and take it to a vet poor thing!
you can try wild life control, but if you can get it comfortable with you, then what might work is a towel over its head, and take gause or a light wrap and wrap it around the wing, then around the body.
it probably wont like that tho
if you can do that then you can take it to the vet and they can help.
hes obviously really scared, and he will bite and scratch. you can try to let him calm down, hes probably going through shock.
Call the Dept. of Natural Resources or a local bird rescue.
your best bet is to call animal control,or the aspca, they will take care of the injured crow, dont attempt to help it,crows can be vicious when their hurt, without scaring it,put out some bread so it has something to nibble on.i know this sounds weird, but as a child,i had a crow as a pet,it adopted me,and whenever anyone went near that crow to pet it,it would literally chase that person away!
Sounds like this bird might be a fledgling...a baby bird that is still learning to fly. Usually if the wing is broken it will hang down and drag on the ground. If it is an obvious break..you need to get it to a local wildlife rehab. If this is just a fledgling, let it be, the parents are around keeping an eye on their baby and are feeding him. You can watch from a hidden area (if the parents see you near their baby they will not come to feed) to see if there are parents attending to the bird.
Leave him alone and let him calm down, he's probably in pain and in shock from his injury.
Once he's calmed offer him a bowl of drinking water and leave out a few pieces of bread. But don't go in the house, if you can sit outside and watch him, he'll probably be aware of your presence. You can either stay quiet or calmly talk to him.(I know it sounds silly but it works with animals).
If he feels uncomfortable with you trying to get him in the house just leave him outside.
Call a vet and ask if they know of a wildlife center that could take him.
But if you can get him in the house DON'T touch him if you can help it. Put on rubber gloves and wash your hands REALLY well with hot soap and water.
Once in the house put him in a box with a towel and keep him in room and make sure no one bothers him.
Just keep in mind if he feels comfortable enough, he MIGHT start to like you.
